As ECC is a part of an ever expanding and growing group, the need to develop employees’ skills has, by time, risen in importance. Basic steps were taken in applying the latest tools for development in an attempt to enhance all levels of its workforce. The company has reached the stage of a learning organization where knowledge is transferred to other group companies opening in new markets in the region. With the Head Office being located away from the plant, ECC’s Human Resources team faces many challenges in meeting and satisfying internal clients’ demands. As such, ECC has discovered that the most efficient HR organizational structure was achieved by locating some of its staff at the plant to be closer to the majority of company employees and some of its team to be located next to the company management and the decision making at the head office.

The HR team is divided into: HR, Personnel, Administration and Technical Training. All are located in both Head Office and Plant. Technical Training is fully established at the plant to deliver the most up to date training manuals.

The HR role in ECC has shifted from being a traditional player in operational activity to being a strategic partner in the decision making process. In its attempts to actively participate in setting the strategy of the company, there has been a commitment to attract and retain the best candidates who would help the company in achieving its vision of growth and expansion.

Thus, the thorough selection process seeks to identify and recruit high potentials who demonstrate relevant balance of skills, knowledge and experience.

One of the most successful achievements that HR realized was getting people from public and private or multinational environments, placing them in one melting pot and making them all share the same common values and vision for the company. This has created the ECC culture.
